A growing Fund requires an ambitious Fund Controller (or Fund Financial Controller) to join them as an Interim to Permanent or Permanent basis. You will bring experience into the team and be able to develop your career by gaining a broad skill set that can stay in Finance or go beyond into other areas such as Operations.
The role reports into a supportive CFO who is keen to pass on extra responsibility and ownership to this role, allowing you to be involved in areas that interest you and gain you experience to develop your career.
The finance team is encouraged to use initiative and lead projects to improve the way of working. There is a culture of collaboration and ideas, where you will contribute to initiatives. The role is very broad and will suit you if you are ambitious to be a CFO in the future.
The Fund administration is outsourced and therefore you will work closely with the administrators to ensure financial reporting is accurate and timely. There is a focus on business partnering across the organisation, the opportunity will encompass you playing a vital role in the launching of new funds.
The role works closely with, and reports to, the CFO. It does not have any direct reports but you will be a senior member of the team and you will review and assist juniors when required. There is an opportunity for future management of staff.
The key responsibilities are as follows:
Responsibility for fund accounting and working with the administrators
Ownership of the annual fund audits
Provide support to investment teams across transactions and the deal closing process
Quarterly estimates & pricing actuals
Manage revolving credit facility & execution of all loan documents.
Manage fund cash & treasury positions,
Tax structures and understanding the complexity of the fund structures
Review fund expenses and drawdowns & distributions
Understanding the key drivers behind fund performance and strategy
Quarterly and annual investor reporting.
All finance related investor correspondence and coordination of investor reporting
Fee calculations, for example waterfall calculations
Manage portfolio budgets, forecasts and reporting. Also monitoring performance and providing detailed analysis.
Ad-hoc projects and ongoing process improvements. These can include systems changes as well as identifying and implementing new working practices to improve efficiency.
You will also assist the CFO with structuring and transaction related due diligence, debt financing negotiations and areas such as tax structuring, transfer pricing and regulatory needs.
Your Skills and Experience
You will be degree educated and have an Accounting Qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with experience in fund management ideally from an SME. You can be from Private Equity, Real Estate, Renewables, Infrastructure, Venture Capital, Debt Funds or similar.
You will be proactive, take ownership and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills.
The role requires you to manage multiple relationships and be able to react quickly and with professionalism at all times. You will have gravitas and excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
